Switching to rats

skyclad Jan 30, 2005 12:56 PM

My JCP is about 10 months old. He was feeding on pre-killed hopperssmall mice. Today I bought a rat pup and he lunged at it. At first I thought the rat pup was way too big for him. But he managed to take it down without a problem. He investigated it for about 3 mintues and then went right after it. I don't understand how it's difficult for JCP owners to switch over to rats. Would I have had a problem switching him if he were alot older?

Some of them switch with no problems at all. I've had some that actually prefered rats to mice, and others that wouldn't touch a rat no matter what. They are all individuals. I like broccoli and turnip greens and my wife doesn't

Hahahahaa good analogy! Well I guess I'm lucky to have started him out on rats at a young age. I have a feeling mice will eventually burn a hole in my wallet lol.
