Picky Eater

amoeba14 Jan 30, 2005 05:11 PM

My 6 month old male ball seems to be a picky eater. So far he has eaten a rat every week I have had him. This past week, he refused to eat and hasn't shown any interest in it. I thought young snakes fed regularly, I know older snakes of breeding age and size usually fast during the winter months. What's the deal??? Thanks in advance.

Young snakes will also refuse meals in these months on occasion, but a live mouse will usually get them started back up without too much trouble.

Not necessarily. Young BPs can and will go on fasts. Can last weeks to months. Just be patient and don't mess with it much. When ready, it will eat again.

So do you suggest that I propose a rat to my snake every week despite that fact that he may not eat it? Or should I wait a few weeks and then try again?

Thanks,

Yep,just offer them to him weekly. He will take it eventually but more importantly, you will begin to recognize his"ways".
Which in turn will give you a better idea of when to even offer it(if/when he fasts again, aka, next year).

btw: You let us know if either one of them actually says "i do"... :P
