I've had mine since christmas, he was VERY fiesty when i got him. What I did to tame him was take him out of his cage, he would try to run at first but I would still catch him because of the theory if you let them do it and they get away with it, then they think it's fine. After I would get him if he tried to get away I would keep a good grasp, not tight, so he wouldn't get away, i would also not put him back in his cage. Over a period of time I would let him sit on my desk or roam around the room. Every once in a while he gets a little frisky because i startle him on accient, but over the span of a month he's become one of the most loving lizards i own. I'm sure this doesn't work for all igs, and there might be some other techniques, but I've told friends about how I tamed mine and they did the same, there haven't been any bad happenings, good luck!

(Just thought it was cute that your ig's name is King Arthur. Mine's is Sir Iggy.)

Hehe, At the time my gf asked me to name him I was watching the movie King Arthur and she had him for a few days and said he seemed the have the personality of a king, like he rules everything and such, so i called him King Arthur. It's fit him nicely. He's taken over all the cats sleeping places and they all watch for him when he's running around the house. hehehe.. It's cute.

Well, i have been keeping iguanas for 6 years now.Presently I have 2 five years old iguanas that i raise since babies.I used to have another iguana that i was obliged to adopt out because i did the wrong things and he became so wild i was obliged to give him away.

So i tryied to do the right things with the 2 iguanas i have now and it worked!Well these 2 iguanas are very sweet, very tame indeed. What i did to tame them? Well i made them trust me.I showed them that im their friend, their caretaker, not an opponent that shall be defeated.I never showed them that im the alpha male,i never forced them to submit to me, never forced them to obey me.Thats in my humble opinion the worst thing someone can do to tame an iguana.I did that to my older iguana and he accepted the fight and started to persecute me around the house to kill me!

Never hit, never hurt your iguana, be present all the time and give it the best possible care you can.Talk with it every day, touch it,give it the best food you can, the best cage, never ever scare it and be patient. It will take years to have a very tame iguana!

Besides that dont bring another iguana to your house unless you are 100% sure it belongs to the opposite sex! The thing a male iguana hates the most is to have another male iguana living in the same house.

In answer to your first question, handling your ig as much as possible and having him well-socialized with different people is the best method to tame him. And at age 1, an iguana can be a little frisky, but you just have to endure the scratches and tail whippings for a little bit until your ig calms down. It's well worth it in the end. You can PM me if you have any more questions about that. (I have a very big 15 yr old male ig, who is very tame, but when he was young, was a little crazy.)
Can't answer your second question though, I don't keep my ig in a cage.

Well I agree with everyone about the taming. Now about the cage well we converted a closet for the cage and the flooring is lenoleum (sorry for the spelling). It is very easy to clean up and they can not ingest anything bad like mulch.
