Question

I have a question about the Beardie I posted below. Her enclosure is set to the specifications, she's eaten, pooped, drank however she'd rather be on me sleeping then in her cage. Is there something wrong with her set up? Basking end is 117 and cool end is 79.

117 seems a little too hot, maybe 100 to 105 would be better.

The temp was wrong, my fiance didn't read it correctly. The basking side is at 113 and the cool side is at 80.

Hi,

117 is not too hot. Beardies will use hotter than that if given the opportunity (but don't take my word for it, what temps will your animal use given the option?). I like to try and have the cool end of the gradient a little cooler than 80 though. Down to at least the mid 70's I think is nice for them to have available. Even cooler would be nice. If they don't ever use it fine and if they do that is great that you have given them the option. They can only use the options that you allow - not to be confused with the options they would use if they were available.

As far as the comment about how your beardie would rather be sleeping on you than in its cage I am not sure what you mean. Eating, pooping, good color, being alert and lots of other things are all signs of a healthy animal.

Good luck,

Ian
