Took a shot from an adult BRB today at the shop

Well it was bound to happen, and boy did it.

Ive had an adult brb female around for a few months. She was aquired in a very odd manner, and lets just say she was returned to the original seller (not me) due to being aggresive.

As I said Ive had her for a while, and honestly hadnt had much of any sort of aggressive responce from her. Stupid me I let my guard down, and let the snake mislead me.

I was showing customers snakes, and mentioned the brbs. I told them about their care, and mentioned they were not mean snakes, but can be jumpy. I mentioned I had an adult ltc, and it wasnt bad, nor was it cb (generally I would consider the cb animals to be a bit calmer). Well as Im showing her to them, she bites me across my brow, about 1/2" at most from my eye.

Instantly blood began to stream down my face infront of what had suddenly become a very crowded store. Worse yet I was the only person working the shop, and the snake had left a few teeth in the area nearest my eye. This of course was rather troubling, not to mention the continous blood flow down my face.

Now not to get sidetracked, but of course by now the customers are either loveing it or in complete shock (I believe it was a mixture of all of the above). One ladies face drew quite pale, and needless to say they no longer had an intrest in a BRB. In fact they soon left the shop, not buying anything (heck a bite for nothing....LOL). I did however make them use my camera to get a shop of the wound.

Unfourtunately my camera ran out of juice after only one shot, and I have yet to upload it, as it is out of juice. I havent even seen the pic myself, so I dont know if they got it or not. If they did I will upload it tommorow once I get the batteries charged.

As I sit here now I still have atleast a half a tooth in one of the wounds nearest my eye, and a bit of a throbbing pain. The snake of course doesnt even realize anything out of the ordinary occured.

Again gotta love life at a herp shop.

I've heard a similar story in Reptile. In this case it was a female sales person that had brought a few frat rats over to the store after hours to show off some of the snakes. She got nailed...by the snake. The frat boys made a bee line to the door.
