Jane, is your albino turning orange underside like this??

Phil Mc Jul 06, 2003 09:03 AM

haven't seen you around in awhile, are you going to Daytona this year?; anyway, my albino is starting to turn orange on her underside, and her yellow spots are starting to turn orange also, I'm sure it isn't lasting, but who knows?..Take care; Phil..

Phil, she's not turning orange at all. She's lost all of the yellow coloration and is very white. I'm a bit disappointed that her growth rate has been so slow. She's not a big insect eater, I suspect because her eyesight is pretty poor. We've kept her the same way we keep all the Tegus..the exception is her diet. She's eaten more rodents and ground meat since an early age. She's still a very pretty girl, just growing slowly.

She is looking good Jane, I also don;t feed mine inscts due to what seems like poor sight, she has been on an exclusive rodent diet for some time now, do you know how old yours is?...Thanks, Phil..

Since both Jane and Phil alluded to poor eyesight in their albinos, is this due to the albino gene or was there any type of injury. Just curious as I am aware that problems can occur in albino animals that are related to their lack of pigmentation.
