New Anole Owner - Is 20 Gallon Aquarium Big Enough for 2 Anoles

sonic5115 Jan 31, 2005 02:40 PM

Hey there,
I'm proud to tell ya'll that my "lost" anole wasn't really lost. It actually buried himself within the bark bedding and popped out one day, scaring the sh*t outta me! Ha-Ha.

Is a 20 Gallon Aquarium big anough for 2 anoles? I want them to have thier own space and not step on each others toes you know?

Please respond. Also, what are anybody's opinions on ca o' crickets..Do anoles like them?

A 20-gallon should work for two Anoles as long they aren't both males. You should provide two basking spots, though. Getting the proper temperature gradient might also be a problem.
The canned Anole food is as close to worthless as it gets. Anoles eat live insects.

Yep, "can-o-crickets" are 100 percent worthless for anoles. Leopard geckos will take them I hear(I wouldn't feed my gecko those things)...certainly anoles will not.

Once you get to 30 gallons and up it sure does get easier to get a correct thermal gradient.
