Does anyone in here that has a rat rack uses any kind of lightning on it?

Lightning will electrocute your rats, along with yourself, not to mention the fire hazard. LOL

This doesn't affect the rats breeding behavior?

I hope you ment lighting.
The funny thing is I could just see rats going up in flames because of lightning. Some kind of Frankenstein rats.
I don't raise rats but I do raise mice and I find no difference if I use lighting or not.

I could see the same thing in my mind as well. Rats that had been charred because of a lightning strike hitting a lightning rod that was attached to a metal rack system. Maybe a new horror movie could be made that was a cross between Night of the Living Dead and Willard?

I knew he meant lighting, but since it was misspelled in both the subject line and the post, I couldn't resist.

But seriously, I don't use any lighting and I keep mine in a garage with only one small window. I don't notice much of a difference in breeding/production except for temp. changes that occur seasonally. My garage is much brighter in the summer than in the winter due to the sun being in a different position on the horizon. If anything, I get less production then, but it has more to do with temps than light.

LOL, ya'll are silly!!
I raise rats, and in the winter time, I use 500 watt flood lighting to keep the temperatures up to in the high 50's or 60's without turning the light off at all. There is no change in production that I have seen with lighting in there all the time (winter) vs. regular sunlight (summer - 2 windows). But this was a great exchange!!
