The brightness in color usually fades when they get older. My ig used to be a very lime green with blue on his snout, but now he's forest green and orange, and the blue is lighter.

Our green iguana, Iggi started out emerald green, but at about 18 months, started to get black scales randomly on her body. Now she is still green, but darker green overall, with lighter green on her tummy, and under her arms. Also, her black stripes started to fade, and the first black strip on her tail is almost gone now. She is 4 years old.
