It's been a long time...

Hi!
I've been posting here a long time ago ... Must have been a year now ... Maybe more...
Anyway , you might remember my pair of water dragons , Spring and Sei . I incubated Sei's first 3 clutches and 20 eggs out of 22 hatched. Unfortunately , those buggers are hard to sell so I'm still stuck with a few of them... Otherwise , Spring reached a total lenght of 32.6' and Sei is currently measuring approximately 22' (she lost part of her tail , dunno what hapenned).

And there is something that kinda bothers me hehe ...
I'm in a french forum about reptiles and there is a guy (ddeau) that posted some pics about his «pair» of water dragons .Here's the link:

http://www.reptilic.com/viewtopic.php?t=5578&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

To me his dragons look definitely like 2 males , but the guy said he had them sexed by a specialist . The «female» was ill when young , so it might have influenced «her» growth. They tried to mate too , but I know that this sometimes happens between females , can it happen between males? The «female's» femoral pores aren't very apparent, but for a female they're quite easy to see... My young males all had pores like that before they matured...And his body is triangular , typical of males .
Well , anyway , I'll let you check it out by yourselves , but I'd like to have your opinion about this...
p.s. The male measures 80cm(31.5') while the female measures 60cm(23.6')
Glad to be back ,
Sarah (wanted to post some pictures of my lizards but it appears my album has been erased ...tssssk , well , next time ....

Looks like a pair to me. The best way to tell is look at head to body ratio. The male is distinctly larger in proportion to the body then the females. In these pictures you can clearly see the large head and crest of the male in comparison to the female. Femoral pores, spikes and other such indicators are no good since they vary from population to population. Basically within a given population you can expect the male to have larger spikes and femoral pores, but its not uncommon for females in some populations to have larger spikes and femoral pores then a male from another population where these indicators are proportinately smaller in both sexes.
