she looked like a normal when i got her a couple weeks ago. but then she went into a shed cycle after eating a big mouse for me. when she shed she had all these scattered areas on her pattern where the yellow had disapeared and now is plain old black and white. i've seen other breeders that had their snakes lose all pigmentation alog the side pattern but still retain the yellow color on their dorsal pattern.

Here is the page with info on mine and the changes she went through while I had her. Unfortunately I don't know how she started out. She is breeding now to another imported black and white type but he hasn't changed at all.

I suspect there may be more than one thing going on with this group. This pair both shed clear (at least to start with on mine) but I don't know if all of the changers do that.

One theory I've heard on the changers is that it's due to some sort of skin condition after they come in contact with a particularly messy bowel movement. Of course that would make me wonder why it was so messy to start with and if some other medication or condition is causing both the stool condition and the skin pigment change.

well good luck on breeding her and let's see if you or someone else can shed some light in this unknown color loss. i'm feeding mine as best as i can to see if she'll any more pigmentation in her next shed.

A "normal" ball can not turn into an axanthic. It's either in the genetics or it is not in the genetics. That's like saying that a white baby can turn into an asian baby. It just isn't happening. Also, there's yellow on that snake, axanthics have no yellow. With that said, that is one beautiful snake, and good luck with it.
