Too dark to be prolapse? What is it??

HollyK Jan 31, 2005 09:38 PM

I have three red ear sliders and I have noticed that atleast two of them sometimes seem to be "pooping" out a large black thing that looks almost like a mushroom. The turtle will push it out and then it will get sucked back in. At first I thought perhaps it was a prolapse, but I think that they are usually pink or white. What else could this be?? The picture that I have linked to shows the black thing at one of it's smaller stages...I have seen it get twice the size of this.

Are you sure? The biggest out of the three is doing it too and I always thought that was a girl...

Yeah, no doubt about it. Size is not an indication of gender until they are full grown.
