This one is shaping up better than I expected! Yea!! And a new addition...

LauraV Jul 06, 2003 10:23 AM

The new addition:

All along I've wondered if this baby is the same baby as the one in the pic the breeder sent me, they are very similar, but the head pattern is not near as strong in the pic of the baby I took. I cannot view enough of the back pattern on the breeder's pic to know for certain. Either way, it's a nice animal - although I do miss the head pattern - that is the main reason for purchasing the baby. There are a couple of discrepancies in what pattern is seeable.. ie: 3rd back diamond down goes in further on the breeder's pic than mine & side barring discrepancies. Oh well - If is is indeed a different baby as I suspect, I guess I will always wonder how the one I originally chose would have turned out.

Yeah if the bottom two pics are supposed to be the same dragon, their patterns definately look different. The patterning should be the same, and looks obviously different. Chris Allen

But wanted a few more opinions. Since the first pic wasn't very good - I was second guessing myself.

The one you got is still a nice one though. I would be in contact with the person I bought it from..
That is why I use the color dots,,, it's so much easier to identify them individually (once you get used to the code.LOL)
It does happen, they may not even know they screwed up, you will never know for sure. They may surprise you and give you some money back or something???

Good luck, I hope you can work something out with them.
Keep us updated.

all nice looking dragons! have you discussed this with the breeder and expressed your concern? I also do not think that is the same baby, the head pattern on the first of the last two is very striking with the bottom portion of the pattern.

I was second guessing my judgement. That's part of the reason I posted the pics here for others to view. I wanted to know if I was crazy or they really were two different dragons.
Take care,

I went back and looked at the pictures of our adults when they were juvies and babies, I can see no difference in the head or body patterns of the babies to juvies, but some of the adults head patterns do change in that the darker patterns seem to fade and in some they have disappeared altogether.

One has a very distinct head pattern that looks like an upsidedown firebird, and it has never changed, he is 8 months now and it is still there. Yet I have another one from the same clutch that looks nothing like her baby pattern and even the back one is changed some.

Maybe some other can check thier older baby dragons pictures and compare them to the baby ones and see if there is a difference.
