"Eco-Earth" Coconut fiber

Is this a suitable substrate by itself or would it have to be mixed with something else? Also, how is it for drainage and longevity?

The stuff is a great substrate as long as it is mixed with something else. It holds water like no other! It does not drain well at all. I mix mine with equal parts of orchid bark and get nice growth from broad leaf plants native to brazil and peru (from Home depot or target) and terrestrial bromeliads. It also makes a great substrate for java moss since it holds so much water. It does stick to frogs (makes them look dirty), so I would put moss down over it or leaf litter.
