Species/Caging Info

I feel a little sketchy posting this here, and as a lurker to boot, but I currently keep exclusively pythons, and am at a loss in the other forums.
I find it generally a good idea to have a few more cages than animals, the reverse being a significant problem. Knowing this, a friend saw a cage that she thought would be good for a new acquisition, and went ahead and purchased it. Unfamiliar with snakes, it is of no use whatsoever. Thats not the problem- I have the new one set up fine. My problem is what to do with the cage- its a wonderfully built (a master carpenter built it for an arboreal lizard twenty years ago) cage, but of no use in my current collection.

So now, if anyone is still reading through my long-windedness, is there something I am not thinking of that would appreciate being housed in a 24" X 14" X 44" enclosure? (Other than GTPs or ETBs.) Its a great cage, multiple perches, a 3" removable litter tray, plexi front and side, top and bottom drawers on the opposite side, lighting hood (which I may replace to accomodate a heat panel.)

Again, what could live here? There are a few arboreal snakes I would love to display within it, but given my state they are not an option (I love ahaetulla, but they are "venemous" according to MA.) Any ideas?

MA is dumb.... ahaetulla aren't dangerous...
You should move .
I take it all rear fanged colubrids are out? That doesn't leave you with lots of options. The cage doesn't sound wide enough to make a JCP happy.
I would personally get a prehensile tailed skink, but you sound like you want a snake... The only thing I can think of is the rhino ratsnake, Rynchophis.

Yeah, massachusetts works it out backasswords- everything is proscribed except that which is specifically exempted. So with blanket legislation, I cannot get any "rear-fang" colubrid, which is, of course, what I want- arboreal, non-dangerous, beautiful display animal...that aside...I could break from tradition (aside from a hinge-backed tortoise, and intermittent occupants through childhood) and go for the skink. Tell me more. Or failing that, I'll look into it anyway.

Did you consider a Amazon tree boa? They make nice display snakes. If you don't mind getting chewed on.
