Try to see if his hemipene is exposed or in her. If it is then they are copulating. If its not he still courting her. Either way leave them alone for now so that they can copulate. Also dont clean up feces in the cage it will stimulate the female to breed. Good luck.

I dont want to disturb them, but it is time to eat...should i seperate and eat, or leave them be and re-freeze the rat

Leave them be. I wouldn't feed them again until after the female has ovulated. It could be weeks or months.

I wouldn't worry about feeding them at all unless they take a break for about a week, then keep the food item small ( I'd offer an adult boa a small rat during this time).
Oh, and if you thaw a rat DON'T re-freeze it ever. Throw it away and count your losses. Not a good practice to re-freeze. Good luck with your breeding attempts.

Hunter,
They are courting right now and it is best to not disturb them. If he lays just right you may see the hemipenis, through the glass. They were designed to breed so keep temps and humidity right and they will be fine. After a couple weeks of this if the male takes a break take him out,if he lets you and feed him a very small rat, then put him back, but he really does not need the food right now. Do not feed the female. That is a nice looking male by the way. She will start swelling but that is not the ovulation, just keep them together. How much does that female weigh?? What size tank are they in? Good luck and keep me posted. Andy Federico

they are in a 55 inch long aquarium. the female is 16.8lbs not sure about the male, but he is a good bit lighter...just keep temps around 90/85?
thanks
