Sexing a uro..help *pic*

peachstategeckos Feb 01, 2005 03:34 PM

Hi everyone!
New here but as you can tell from my username I'm mostly on the gecko forums alot..lol. I need some opinions on sexing my uro. I bought what I was told was a "female" Mali back in July. I know about the whole males being brighter and everything and her colors are kinda dull except when she's been basking alot so I figured she was a female. About two months ago after a shed I noticed what looks to be bulges and pores. I've attached a picture. Sorry for the quality. I added the little black dots where the pores are since you can't see them that well in the pic. She was a juvi when I got her so maybe she was sexed wrong since she wasn't "mature" yet. What do you guys think? Will I have to give her a more masculine name now..hehe? Thanks so much!

Your Her looks like a He.

"She's" got what looks to me like hemipenal pores (MY OPINION).

Looks like my male mali's bottom side.

Just my opinion, but you can wait and see if PHEve gets to you (she's real good).

Also I know you from the leo forum.

How's your leo's going?

Also, do you know how to breed waxworms?

Thanks, that's what I thought. I'm used to sexing leos but I wasn't sure if anything was dif with the uros.

Leos are all fine except one that has a tumor (poor girl). I've beem trying to get her a vet appointment but everytime one gets scheduled something happens like a ice storm or the cars breaks down. I'm sure I'll have a verdict by the end of the week.

Nope, I don't breed wax worms. I have a colony of mealworms though .

In order for any of us to be able to accurately tell, I would have to ask if you could post another pic, close up of the vent area.

I wish I could see your pic better but I just can't

Try again and we can help you

I also have geckos, not leopards, but Henkeli leaftails, giant day gecko, and central american banded. I do admire the leos though. Sorry to hear about your little girl with the tumor. Sad !

Sure Glad your here,
