Tank Size.

Knot Jul 06, 2003 11:35 AM

I maybe want to get a WTF and I was wondering what is the minimal tank size for one adults. I read this book published by Barron and written by Barlett and Barlett and he saids that the minimum for one adult WTF is a 10 gal. But I've read on a number site which suggested 20 gal even for 1 and bigger for 2 or 3. I heard the guy that has written the book is supposed to be one of the leading experts in keeping frogs.

10 gallon for one adult is too small. my 20 gallon high for my 3 inch adult male seems a little bit small, since he jumps and is very active during the night.
I hope I can get upgrade his tank soon.

I can't speak for the book, but generally 1 WTF in a 20 gallon and 10 gallon per additional frog.
I had my two WTF in a 32 gallon and have just upgraded to a 45 gallon.

The 32 gallon provided enough room but I wanted them to have a lot of floor space also. Mine hunt around alot on the floor and like to have a long leap now and then.

I keep a pair in a 20 hex tank. The female doesn't move much, so she doesn't mind. However, my male is constantly escaping and rubbing his nose, so he gets to run loose in my bedroom most of the time. He always just goes and sits on top of my fish aqauriums anyways or my computer. I agree that you should get the largest tank you can. While White's are supposed to be lazy frogs, many like to wander. My juvenile White's seem to never sleep. It is amusing to watch 20 frogs climb all over their tank and go swimming in their water bowl.
