New Enclosure

kingsnaken Feb 01, 2005 04:46 PM

36"x16"x16" Snake Enclosure- base on plans from Select Serpent.Approx. Cost $76.00. I had to cut almost nothing. I built it very fast, then I had to wait for the glass track to come in. Derek

nice looking enclosure as well as dang good price. The $76, that didnt include the glass... right? I spent about $50 just on the 2 pieces of 1/4" glass for mine!!!

The melamine was 4 pieces of 36x16" for about 7$ each. The 2 pieces of 11 1/16" x 18 1/2" glass, handles, and lock were $28 all together. the 36" track was $10.50. I did buy a 36" x 12" piece of melamine for the litter dam, but it is enough for 4 cages. The glass was actually $15 by itself. Derek

I used 1/4" glass.

I guess thats actually a pretty normal price (still a little better than normal), but when you go to 24" wide glass from 16.5" wide glass, it jumps in price quite a bit. (thats the size they cut down from).

Sorry,
The instructions for the cage came from Striking Serpents not Select Serpents.

Are you stacking anything on this? I was thinking of doing that with mine, but I was afraid of warping/sagging.

Looks really nice!!!

What you putting in their? If you already said I wasn't paying attention.

I was hoping to stack 3 on top of each other. They seem pretty sturdy. I have kingsnakes and cornsnakes and milksnakes. I have 3 corns and 1 graybanded that can go in there because of their size. I will probably put my biggest corn in the first one, and as my other snakes get bigger, I'll move them into these enclosures. By stacking these, I'll save allot of space because right now I have 13 snakes in mostly 20 gallon tanks. Derek
