Hey i had a question.. how much time does an iguana need for sleep because i was thinking out in the wild or whatever the sun would set at like 10 or so and come up at like 7 so could i turn his UVB and UVA on when i leave for school 6-7 am and turn it off at like 10-11 pm??? just wondering.

I turn my ig, and all my reps, lights on at exactly 7am every day. I don't have an exact time to turn them off, tho. I usually let him tell me when he's sleepy. I can tell because he's either already asleep or he lays down and looks at me like a cat does, with his big ol eyes. hehe I don't let the lights go on over 11PM. By that time he's so dog tired he's already asleep, but like me, he doesn't like the lights to be on. When i wake up at 7 he's just now waking up, wether the lights are on or not, and he climbs up to the top of his cage to tell me that he wants em on, after that he basks and does whatever he does while i'm at class. My ig seems to be like a human, in the sense that he goes to sleep at the time I do, and wakes up at the time i do, except he doesn't have class and a job and stuff.. lucky boy.. lol

You could turn the light off at 8 or 9pm if you wanted to, but I would definitely start turning the lights on at 7 or 8am. 3pm until 10pm is not enough at all.
I'm not sure how much sleep iguanas need. My ig has always slept the same hours as I do in a sleeping bag by my bed. We had bought him an oversized dog bed, but he chose to sleep in the sleeping bag head first instead. He seems to have a clock in his head too. He always crawls in into bed the same time every night at 10pm. He also sleeps a majority of the day, so who knows the answer to that question.

Yeah, that's fine. You can also tell when to turn them on when he is showing signs of being tired. I don't mean basking, but going somewhere besides his basking spot and going in the sleep position. My ig likes to put his two front feet to the side and sleep like that.

My ig sleeps like that too, so does my lil gecko too. I think that is the cutest thing!
