I asked this question a few days ago, but without a reply. I have a 50 gal tank and i can't decide between the 2. I've seen many ads for both asking about the same price. I have a 50 gal tank and i want a friendly smaller one. Any opinions?

There's one in my backyard (although you're not alowed to take them from the wild). There's plenty of them around for about $30 ($20 american). I guess americans don't keep them then. I just wondered about the difference before i got one.

Hi mate, Vitticep are generaly easier to keep apparently, I've read that the Barbata can be a bit fiesty and the young need to be housed seperatly. Vitticeps young can be housed together until about 4-6 month then you'll need to seperate the males! Thats incase your had ideas about breeding them. If you ever come across anyone who has barbata in the UK give us a shout I'd be interestred in adding one to my collection.
Cheers,
Lee.
