Meet Elmo

funkymonkey Feb 02, 2005 04:53 AM

Well he seems to be doing pretty well,
He is very scared of us at the minute,, but i guess thats to be expected.

UV and heat is all sorted and has been for some time,, so he seems pretty happy in his new house.

any tips on trying to get him used to me and calm down or will that just come with time.

What a cute little guy!

I can't tell from that pic, but I'm assuming you have places for him to hide?

Yes,, He has got 2 hides in his viv one under the heat spot and the other at the cooler end of the viv, so not a problem with him hiding,, Both completely hie him away from us seeing him so provide plenty of safe areas for him to be.

Hes a WINNER for sure ! :0) Looks Great! As far as him being scared quite normal, just went through the whole tramatic experience of getting out of that egg(his world) and now hes someplace else

It's all new to him, and he's all alone, hehehhee, I have had some look up and gape(open their mouth to SCARE me) LOL

So funny, yet SO VERY BRAVE The little one will be fine when he adjusts to everything and gets used to you.

Soon with offering your hand each day, they get right on and become super friendly!

CONGRATULATIONS, on your first collared kid, *SMILE* isn't it FUN !

yeahhhhhhhhhh, Elmo got 2 sisters or bothers now as well.
Got in from work this morning at 3am and they were both fast asleep with just their heads out of the egg.

got up this morning and they were scampering about like little monkeys,,working out what legs do and falling over quite a bit.

lol,

All 3 are together now in the baby viv,, Elmo is a dead fiesty little thing still, flares up with his mouth open everytime i go near to him.

what sort of time scale should i be looking at roughly for him to accept me a littl more and also by when should he be chasing crix,,what do i do if he doesn't ?????

thanks all,

Funky

Just be patient as far as Elmo gaping at you and trying to scare you, hehehehe .
He will stop in a few weeks.

As far as them eating, they will dont you worry, but they do not need to for awhile, 3 days to a week even longer, sometimes.

My C. vestigium baby Chippewa, went 14 days last year, I have to say I was about to force him, (very worried) but the next day he snagged a cricket.

Thats very cool they are all fine, good luck with them. Your really HOOKED now, ya never get over the first time seeing them hatch, it's just a truely AWESOME experience.
