Coral snake photographed..

RioBravoReptiles Feb 02, 2005 07:00 AM

... this is a blast from the past, a scan of a slide from several years ago in western Arizona. Pretty snake, the way the red comes and goes on this Coral is not unusual in these.

You can get some idea of the scale of the photo by looking at the rabbit-pellet there in the upper right.. These just don't have the length or mass of the easterns, at least I've never found one of any size.

It's cold and drizzly here now in S. Texas and things are not going to start moving until this weather pattern clears out.. but three days ago I saw Gulf coast toads and a Coniophanes out crawling (or hopping) as well as several sliders and an Indigo on a canal bank, they say it is Spring.

Excellant picture! Keep 'em coming! Haven't been out this week but plan on hitting some debris piles next week. I did kick up a couple of broad banded water snakes and a few of these guys with that desert/speckled king back on 01-18-05. Too many to count five lined skinks.
