...It's highly unlikely to be a yearling, but certianly not impossible. Even if it were fed only every 10-14 days, it would probably be over 24" at 1 year. Some of the Ghana imports and certianly captive-bred babies can approach 18" at hatching or soon after. A better indicator of age may be its behavior. Does it have a strong tendancy to ball up or is it confident and readily crawl through your hands? If the former, it's probably far less than a yearling, IMHO. SJM

Unless it has been underfed, it is probably around four to six months old or so. Captive bred, appropriately fed, I would say he was born late last fall/early winter. All depends on feeding, though.

It might just be small for it's age.
I have a 2 year old male that just hit 27 inches with his last shed. He shed this month but the last time was in Jan.
He eats f/t rat pups from RodentPro every Thursday. He has on occasion taken up to 3 at a time (looked like a stuffed sausage after that feeding).
He just does not grow. He is the smallest out of my BP's. I have another 2 year old male that is 35 inches.
Just depends on the snake.
