Regurgitation....

fredhammes Feb 02, 2005 11:02 AM

In all the time I have kept snakes, I have never had a problem with this. Now I have an adult female ball python who has regurgitated her last 2 meals.
I have had her for years, she has always been a decent eater. There have been no new herps introduced to my home in several months, and always are quarrantined. Her habitat has not changed.None of my other herps have done this, yet. I waited 2 weeks to feed again after her first time, but she did it again.
Should I be worried? Is there something I should do differently with her?

Thanks for any advice.

There are MANY causes of regurgitation. You mentioned your herps are quarantined, and I wonder what is involved with that. The first thing to look at are parasites. Even assuming that the quarantine meant testing for endoparasites, this doesn't mean it can't be loaded with parasites now. ALL food items are sources of parasites. If it hasn't been checked or dewormed in the last 6-12 months, that would definitely be a starting point.

It also goes without saying that your temp's should be monitored; sometimes a winter chill goes unoticed without a thermometre readily available.
