My beardie might be sick.

otismom Feb 02, 2005 03:44 PM

Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with Otis. It started 2 days ago. He/she not sure. We purchased Otis in October he has been fine until now. His head has turned lighter and he/she won't eat. Just lays there. Is he/she sick or is this the time for hibernation? I don't know. He/she was very active, now he/she is not. I know they go into a hibernation but, when? Could Otis be dehydrated. I keep plenty of water in a bowl. I know they don't like to drink out of the bowl. But I can't stand there and mist him constantly. Is there anything else I can do. I can't take him to the vet for a couple of days. Help me please.

Well, in terms of whether or not your beadie is sick, I can't say. As for the hibernation thing, your beardie shouldn't be going into hibernation, hibernation occurs when the temperature becomes so cold that the animal must sleep to conserve energy, so if you keep your enclosure at suitable temperatures, you should not have a beardie go into hibernation
