Jimi:
First, always use the scientific name..Especially if it has to do with antivenom.
If you are refering to: Bothriechis schlegelii You need to contact there folk's in Costa Rica:

However, I know of other Canadians that try to get antivenom but the government won't allow them to import it...
Good Luck,

Just one other thought.....
Why do you have a venomous snake and not even know what antivenom is used to treat it bite?

I dont have one. I am thinking about getting one and want to get the antivenin first..ok..no need to panic
Jimi:
All you had to say upfront was "I'm thinking of aquiring a Deadly Couch Cobra , what would be the best A/V to have on hand in case of bite."

Always curious as to what provinces allow what. So far I know BC allows a little venomous, alberta none, sask none, Manitoba yes, unless in a city, Ontario the same (i think).. I'm clueless about the maritimes and quebec or the territories.
I live in Ontario and I am not 100% sure about keeping venomous. I am under the understanding that you can keep venomous as I have talked to people who keep them here and I have spoken to reptile stores about keeping them and they have never told me that you can't have them here.
In Ontario it is up to the local county or city/town bi-laws to govern venomous keeping. I'd check with your local office.
I recently inquired with a breeder in Costa Rica as my attempts to contact ICP were futile. They(breeders) informed me that ICP is not producing Polyvalent at this time. I may be SOL since my serum 'expires' at the end of this month.
Matt
I'd keep the expired around until more comes, but that's just me
.which has a 5 year shelf life, rather than 3 for the liquid. It is definitely good for several years. The key is whether or not you get a physician who would be willing to use it anyway. Fortunately here in NY, Jacobi Hospital has an experienced team of snakebite physicians.
