Companion for male argentine B&W tegu

My boyfriend and I have long been considering getting a companion for our young tegu.

We are planning on getting a female of about the same size & same breed, but we are keeping open minds.

Does anyone have an opinion on keeping tegus together, putting a male w/ a female, or 2 males together? What other animals (lizards/tortoises) would make appropriate companions for a male Aregentine B&W tegu?

We plan to quarentine whatever animal we get, then introduce them first through the glass of his tank, then supervise them outside the tank before putting them in together. If anyone has ideas on a better way to do this, please let me know!
