Corn Snake Gymnastics

amoeba14 Feb 03, 2005 09:42 AM

My albino corn has been more active in the past few weeks than ever before. She is about 8 months old and cruises around her tank almost all day long. She climbs on her branches, lays under her hot spot and just looks so happy. In the past, she has never ever done this. She usually just hides. I haven't changed temps, lighting or humidity. I've only begun to feed her a little more. What's the deal with this?

Thanks,

Tim Savard

She is most likely just more comfortable being in her home...it takes longer for some to get used to it than others, mine are almost always out and cruising around, nothing to be worried about just be happy that you have a nice mellow and healthy little companion sometimes they "wander" if they are hungry too, how big is she and what size/# of prey items are you feeding her?

She is about 24ish inches long and I've been feeding her pinkies. I have fed her a fuzzy in the past and she did great but I have a freezer full of pinkies so I've been feeding her those. I usually give her 3 of them and she has no problem getting all of them down. I'd like to move up to fuzzies in the near future. Glad to hear you think she is just happy and feeling more comfortable. I was worried she was unhappy and trying to find a new home.

I would up her to fuzzies asap, once the pinkies are done, wouldn't want you to waste them Good luck with her

Baby corns in the wild are prey for almost EVERYTHING!!!! So, they tend to hide a lot, especially during the daylight hours. However, as they age, corns usually get more confident in their ability not to end up as someone's lunch, and they get progressively more visible the bigger they get.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip. It makes perfect sence, I just never really thought of that. She has gotten quite bigger in the few months I've had her.
