bugged out and wrinkled eyes... help please

GoodyToShoos Feb 03, 2005 01:36 PM

My male ball, Samson, is a year old. Just reciently he stopped eatting for about 20 days. Last weekend he finally started to eat again but the mice were live when he normaly takes frozen. He shed too but in pieces and i am sure i saw both eye scales come off. But his eye still seem 'wrinkled' and almost dirty. Its like they are crusty and need to come off but i dont want to hurt him. i keep his tank at 60% humidity and reciently i have put a piece of damp cloth in his hide box but it doesnt seem to help. Also his eyes seem to 'bug out' from his head. I have seen other balls close up and their eyes seem more flush to the side of their heads. Samson's stick out, kinda wierd. I have pics but im not sure how to post them. Please... is there anything i can do?

I just wanted to respond to say that I personally can't diagnose for you, but that someone did read your post. Is there anyway you could post a picture to show what you are talking about? Could the "crusty" be mites? Also, wrinkly eyes make me think dehydration, so how is he doing with that? If it is dehydration, it should get a little better with each shed once the dehydration is remedied. And as always, a vet would probably be able to do 100 times anything we could help you with, if for no other reason than he/she can physically examine the animal in person.

Hope this helps, let us know.
nate.

Yeah its not mites i have looked him over and over. And hes pretty small still so it doesnt take too long to give him a good once over. The wet sack has seemed to help. his eyes are clearer now and they dont looke like they have air behind the scales. I was thinking do they make a snake body cream or something to bring moisture back to his body? oh well... thanks for your help
