How often do you change your substrate?

crtoon83 Feb 03, 2005 03:07 PM

I was just wondering about how often does everyone change the substrate in their chondro cages? I've had my chondro only about 3 weeks but his cage is starting to stink pretty bad... i have the coco husk chips and ground stuff... am i maybe keeping this too damp, or is this just common?

I opened the cage to take a picture just now and mist and it just kinda hit me like a truck when i stuck my head halfway in the cage. Any ideas?

Thanks
-Chris

Oh, and here's the pic if anyone's interested. Just thought it was kinda interesting how he was hiding his head... lol

I haven't changed my Biaks yet. I just spot clean every thurs or fri., thats his schedule not mine. The tub never smells other than earthy. I'm currnetly using jungle mix or something like that. Maybe its the coco husk? I don't know if its the moisture as i pour about 16oz. of water in the tub weekly, to help with humidity. Clint
