These Boas, as the name suggests, come from the Central American country of Nicaragua (Click here for Map of the Country) The Boas from this region are rich in both color and pattern. "Circle Back" pattern is the normal look for these beautiful Boa and Greens and orange colors add to their outstanding looks.
Nicaraguan Boas are in the Sub-species of Boa Constrictor Imperator. The are on the small side of the spectrum of this Ssp. Females will reach adult breeding size at about 5 feet in length while males may reach maturity at 3 feet. There is a strong population of Hypomelinistic boas from this region that occur naturally. Bryant King worked with these animals and proved the gene to be genetic and Co-Dominant much like the Salmon Phase of Hypo.
I am currently working with a pair of these animals, 1 Hypo and 1 Normal. I plan on breeding them as a true Locality Boa, as there beauty seems to be diminished by inter-breeding the different localities.
I hope to have my first litter of captive Born Hypo and normal Nicaraguan boas in the breeding season of 2004.
This Info is from my website, so the link to the map does not work here. I no longer work with these animals, My hypos were traded to one person and the normals trade to another. You can still get Hypos from ben Seigel and he even gets Anerys from time to time so you could make Ghost locality Boas...
Good luck with them.
Jim
