I got a call this a.m. from a distraught Apartment Complex Manager who got my name from a tenant that I might help be able to do something. Seems a boa or python was left in an apt. when the renters skipped out. I always agree to do what I can then wonder as soon as I hang up the phone why I agreed. Basically I'm a sucker. I worried for the next 3 hours what the heck I was going to do with the snake only knowing it was not going to enter my house. The electicity at the apt has been turned off for 2 months, I was told. No one knew much about the snake except that it was big and in the bed. No one at work wanted or agreed to come with me, so I went alone to find a 12 to 14 foot (I'm guessing) albino burmese dead under the covers in a bed. I figured it would be ill, but not dead. I had already made arrangements to house it in a small apt at the barn where I go daily to take care of the dogs, cat, and horse. I think it turned out in my best interest since I had no idea what I could do with it. I have no interest in having a snake larger than what I am comfortable handling alone, feeding rabbits to, and spending a fair amount of money on to rehabilitate to sell for far less than what I put into it. It would have only been a learning experience for me. The whole situation was kinda sad, but I'm glad that they called me and found that I was willing to do what I could, thinking at worst it could be humanely euthanized and at best it would get a second chance.
