Red Axanthic Adult Pic

Corey Woods Feb 03, 2005 08:46 PM

Here is a pic of an adult Red Axanthic male beside a Snake Keeper line axanthic female. There is also a VPI axanthic male in the background but he is in shed.

I don't get to see this animal very often. He is the only Red Axanthic I've ever sold and 1 of 4 produced. He is in the collection of Ralph Davis. This pic was taken a week ago by my friend Jon Kendrick when him and I were at Ralphs place. The picture was posted with Ralph's permission.

Regards,
Corey Woods

Everyone ia always debating about which line of axanthic produces the best snow. Is it SK, VPI, Jollif, etc... Any talk about you or Ralph breeding your Red Axanthics to an albino to eventually produce a Red Axanthic Snow. Any predictions of what a Red Axanthic Snow would look like? Thanks for the pic.....Tony B

Tony,

I don't have any female albinos for my Red Axanthic male to breed. So, it's going to take me a long time to do that cross. Ralph is working on it. He tried last year but all the eggs went bad (the female has a history of that). I'm not sure how many albino females Ralphs male has bred but I know it's atleast 1 albino.

I think the resulting "snow" from the Red Axanthic to Albino breeding will be white with a red hue to them instead of white with a yellow hue. Time will tell if that's the case or not.

Corey

Hopefully we will get to see one soon. The Red Axanthics would be the perfect snake to prove out some of those so-called anerytheristic ball pythons. Thanks for the info and good luck this season.....Tony B

the female having a history of producing rotten eggs coupled with the fact that no real double morph mutations have resulted from the red axanthic could cause people to say it is a worthless morph that nobody should have in their collection? And would it be unfair for someone to say that people should not own spider balls because someone who has no spiderballs in their collection claims there are neurological issues yet has no personal experience or proof of the claim?
Does this seem like a fair comparison of misguided facts?

I believe the female that produces bad eggs is actually an albino not the red axanthic. I may be wrong but for a couple years Ralph has posted that a certain female albino produces nothing but bad eggs no matter what she has been bred to. I may be wrong but I think that is what Cory was refering too.

I absolutely cannot wait to produce the super (Red Axanthic). I'm totally convinced this morph will take off with some of the crosses coming out. The pastel X het red will be SWEET!

This morph does not get enough recoginition yet.......the Red is super sweet, but the het is awesome on it's own. Combined with Pastel, Albino, Hypo..(even Axanthic)....the het designer would be killer.......BUT...imagine a Super Pastel Red Axanthic...Hypo Red Axanthic.........this morph has so much potential...IMO!
Awesome Het Pics everyone!
