I was told by many people that Ric Blair had Kim's Dark phase Mex mex. After speaking with him I was mis-informed. Ric got his Black Mex mex from a breeder by the name of Matt Smith.
I do not know where Kim's Dark Mexmex went since I was for certain Ric Blair had them but he doesn't.

If you look at Ric's hatchling pics on his website they have that "brown" coloration as well. Since I have seen many adult dark phase and NO hatchling that are black. I am beginning to think that these brown Mexmex are just juvenile Dark phase Mexmex.

What do you guys think?

Interesting thought John. Someone out there must have raised up a "brown" baby to adulthood and witnessed the change whatever that change was, if any. Myself, I'm hoping "Brown" and "Dark" are two entirely different color phases. This is my 04 baby. It will be interesting to see how the color developes. Though not as "brown" as Makisfree's it definately shows it.

Is the brown/dark phases of these mex mex's is what you would find in the wild in Mexico? or
Has it been bred into the mex mex?
Curious,

The Brown or Dark phase is a naturally occuring trait (dominant, co dominant or recessive). It is not bred into it from any other species.

I too hope the brown ones stay brown as adults, but it is just to coincidental that Ric's black phase offspring are brown as neonates.
