Pac Man hibernating?

Frogger1985 Feb 03, 2005 09:32 PM

Hello,
I just have a small concern. I bought my frog as a baby from a petstore in August. He is my first. He did well in the begining, eating, getting in the water, etc. Now, he doesn't do much. He won't eat much...maybe a couple crickets each week, stays somewhat hidden, and he rarely gets in the water bowl. I don't keep the substrate very moist because he doesn't seem to like that, but the tank is still relatively humid. He was treated for a parasite (nematode) infection last month and it was successful; the adult worm came out. Seems to be doing better from that.
Could he be doing some sort of semi-hibernation? My toads kind of hibernate. They will bury themselves for a week or two then come back out for a few days. This pacman doesn't do any of that.

I have never had one over winter, so any info is appreciated.

Thanks
-----

This is normal for a pacman frog during winter months. To increase activity and get your frog feeding lengthen daylight hours and increase temps and humidity slightly.
