question about hooknose snakes

caecilianman02 Feb 03, 2005 10:29 PM

Hi there:
HI THERE;

I still have the worm snake setup, but unfortunately the deal didn't fall through. Anyway, I am OBSESSED with small secretive burrowing snakes like worm snakes and blind snakes, and I am also a big caecilian fan. I can't obtain any blind snakes, so I was wondering what type of small burrowing snake I could put in the worm snake habitat.
It should be small, and live in the same type of tank the worm snakes could live in (2.5-gallon glass aquarium with dry sandy soild, some rocks to hide under, a shallow water dish, moss etc.) I came across a site that was selling hooknose snakes, and did some research.
I know that they are really small (7-14 in.) but what could you tell me about these snakes?

THANKS
-----

There's a thread a ways down (Oct 23) dealing with shovel nosed snakes. Those care recomendations should work for a hooknose. I assume that they're just the spotted ones (I want a thornscrub hooknose). I've also read that they favor spiders as prey.

Too bad about the worm snakes. I'd love to get a hold of some too.
