Best Size of Flexwatt to Buy??

gemdreamer Feb 03, 2005 11:35 PM

Hi, Im trying to finish my so called rack and I need to know what size of Flexwatt tape to buy that would suit me best and where the most reasonable place to buy it is.

The type of setup I have is wood base with, I think 12qt sweater box plastic boxes. This rack is for my Leopard Geckos. Any help would be wonderful, also what would be better to use a Dimmer or a Proportional thermostat?

Thanks

For that size tub I woudl go with back heat 11". Now this depends on the heating in the room the rack will be in. If the temps are (60's) you would most likley have to use 3" belly heat.
A proportional thermostat is the best control you can have for any reptile heating element besides a light bulb. As for the best place to buy it...aheem...lol.. I dunno..Hope this helps,

It is a very well insulated reptile room, I mean it ranges in the 75 to 80's in the day.

I know that summer is comming up soon, but i want to get this done so when it does start getting cold again I will have it set up.

how does the flexwatt work the smaller the higher wattage? Sorry for asking dumb questions, just curious.

Thanks, Shari

With those temps you could go with 11" back heat with no ill effects. Back heat is usually easier to install as well..

Does it matter what type of wiring you use, I mean do you have to use the wiring they supply or can you use equivelent wiring from like Home Depot?

I have the instructions that I think Bean Farm supplies.

Thanks Shari

Sure can, all you need to get is a household extension cord and cut off the end with the rec. and then strip the wires.....
