still worried about the eggbound...help

dmlove Jul 06, 2003 03:35 PM

well as some know i have a young female who was possible eggbound with infertile eggs. The reason i think this is she was exposed to my male (she could see him bobbing for about a week a while ago when the cages were in sight of each other, i have moved them now) and now she looks bloated and i could kind of feel small circular objects in her abdomen when i palpated her, but im not sure. I brought her to the vet, and the vet said that she could possibly be eggbound, as she could feel the objects as well, alothugh they were very small. We had an Xray done, but we couldnt see anything, and the vet said that sometimes they dont show up if infertile. She gave the dragon a calcium injection and a Vitamin A B and D injection. I put her in the laying box with her Merc sun bulb for one day, and then in 2 days i did it again, and i did it 2 more times. None of the times she layed or even showed signs of laying, so i kind of gave up. I am treating her for pinworms, but the last fecal came back negative. She still looks bloated etc. Im at a loss at what to do, and any help would be apprectiated. Thanks

If it has been more than 4 weeks after she has seen the male, you should start to worry. Otherwise just give her a few more days. If you are really worried, give her a warm soak, maybe massage her belly a little. Sometimes that will help her relax and you can push them out. If that doesnt work, all you can do is keep waiting. I had a small female lay some infertile eggs once, never even knew she had them until she started doing some non stop digging and laid them under a log in her cage. She is fine now. Just keep an eye on her. Good luck!
