Hi Everyone... Need some O/T help...

shopunke Feb 04, 2005 08:41 AM

Sorry I haven't posted... ever since Tobias got a new home I felt like that if I came on here to help others, I'd be shunned. But I really need some help with my frog, Beady.

His fungal infection is completely gone, no more ulcers on his arm, no more swelling. But something has formed on the top of his head, and the only thing I can think of it being is a tumor. Here's a picture. Any help would mean a lot.

Thanks.

Geez, you don't really think anybody here would shun you, do you?? Silly girl We all know you were doing your absolute best for your lizards, and THAT'S what counts!

I don't know how to help you with Beady, unfortunately; I wish I did. It seems like it could be anything, and without more clues to go on, I wouldn't know what to start to treat him with. I'm sorry. It is encouraging that the fungal infection cleared up. You did a great job doing that all on your own without the help of a vet!

Thanks. I owe his healing to Tetra Fungistop (a generic brand, though) and mercuroclear... Worked great.

I just hope this isn't some sort of a tumor. Another clue I could give you is that it's secreting a little bit more mucous than the rest of his body, like when he is a little dry, the bump is still slimey.

Fungal or bacterial infection, internal. It could just be showing itself in the form of a large lump, ad maybe filled with infection!

Of course I do not know, I'm not a Vet, but the fact he had a fugal infection, now this, leads me to believe SOMETHING is not right, thats causing these problems.

*** Frogs REACT severely to TOXINS.

Is there anything in your water, anything you use to clean with, anything sprayed near him? Have to do some detective work,

OR take him to the Vet, see if it is infact a tumor.

NICE to see you as always !

I was thinking the same thing. Should I maybe poke it with a sterilized needle? See if I can get anything? If I don't I can always treat the needle sight with antibiotics and what have you...

May just cause more infection or problems. I would pressit gently and see if anything comes out.

See if it is hard or soft.

Squeezed it, it's fleshy and nothing came out.

I don't know if he's eating. I haven't seen him eat and his belly feels flabby.

I went out tonight and got them a 60 watt black bulb, for the heck of it. They've never had any light but they've been fine by the window.

*sigh* Anywhooo...
