Green Snake Shed?!?!?! Have U Ever Seen it B4??? take a quick look.

ZFelicien Feb 04, 2005 09:23 AM

i was clean out some stuff yesterday and i came across a snake shed i kept, i've had it for about 4 years now.

Here's the story:
i purchased a "Banana" Cali King from a local pet story in `01 what brought me to this snake was she had a nice greenish-yellow look to her. When she shed the very first time this was the color of the shed.

she lost her greenish-yellow color after that first shed and she never shed in that color again

unfortunately she was a non-feeder i was inexperienced and she passed...

Although I have not seen this personally, it may be that she had some ailment that was also the cause of her not feeding for you??
Another more bizarre possibility is that it was food coloring.
Odd as that seems, someone a few years back was selling "blue" Cal kings--- Blue until they shed their skin- and their new owner of a few extra buck too I assume.
I wonder...

That is my guess too, Like Mark said...I have heard of a few cases of food colorng used to tint a snakes color to pretend its a new morph..... Tom Stevens

No they were green. That one guy posted pics of his green Cal King and everybody was hasslin him lol. The thing finally shed and it was a normal colored King. It was admirable of him to at least post it with pics after shedding. I think he got it at a Flea Market or something but it was all pretty damn funny. I wonder if the same thing didnt happen here.

I kinda thought I had the color wrong. I must've been adding blue yellow and got green in my head! hahaha

Well snakes are really expensive in NYC. A Cali King is sold from any where between $75-100. so when I saw a $95 price tag (Back then) it wasn't surprising to me... luckily I got the clerk to drop the price to $50.. I was all excited.. well when she shed she lost her color but being inexperienced I expected her color to change back to the green I saw a lil while after the shed... I was wrong. she lived am entire year being forced fed (cuz that's the only advice I got from the idiots at the pet store)... unfortunately I woke up 2 her lifeless body one summer morning

that makes a good bit of sense, since she never shed that color ever again. I wish I had more experience then...she was a lovely snake all-around.

THANX FOR THE INPUT,

Was the snake on sand. I have seen alot of pet stores use the calci sand and have it stain the reptiles all sorts of colors. Looks from the shed that it was buried in the yellow calci sand.
