Left Side Paralysis

morgandragon Feb 04, 2005 11:37 AM

Have a bearded about 3 years old. Has been active, eating well and then notice this morning when feeding him that his left front arm is completely limp and his back left leg can not keep up with the right side. The really sad thing is that he is still trying to run around his cage an explore like he does everyday.

I am taking him to the vet today, however I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this and has any insight.

Thank you in advance!

I really hope there is something that can be done to help him.

I haven't heard of paralysis affecting one side of the dragon, most problems with it that come up are rear leg paralysis. With rear leg paralysis, typically the cost is impaction or too large a prey item. What you described wouldn't be the same thing. I am pleased to hear you are already taking him to the vet which is the best thing to do. In the mean time, has your dragon fell from any height? Falling on his side or being pinned underneath something could cause what you are describing. Vitamin deficiencies or MBD. The Vet should be able to determine what is the cause

Not sure if he has fallen, I work during the day. Well have to wait and see what the vets thinks.

I always like to find out as much info before I take them to the vet. The closest vet(over 1hr away)to us handles exotics but really doesn't have a lot of experience with beardeds in particular.

This forum is great to find out info.

Thanks again
