breeding Malaysian leaf frogs

Carlton Feb 04, 2005 12:40 PM

Hi,

I have a pair of LTC Megophrys nasuta who look like they are in breeding condition. Can anypone put me in touch with keepers who have done this? I have not bred frogs before now. Not much info online, and it is sketchy.

Thanks!

I sold all of my adults last year after much frustration with failed breeding attempts. I had them for 12-18 months and they were in perfect health. Lots of amplexus but no eggs. They eat a ton of crix and take up a lot of room so I let them go. Just keep trying different set-ups and be more patient than I was.

Frustrating I bet! These are the only frogs I plan on keeping and I have a perfect space for them. Actually, I am more concerned with housing a pair together over the long term. If they do mate but no eggs result so be it. Eggs would be great, but as long as the frogs are healthy that's the main thing. I don't want the female to be pestered by constant attempts by the male, so was looking for info on getting them through the breeding cycle. How long did they stay in amplexus? Did you have to separate them at some point or did they stop mating activity on their own? Did you have to change the temps/humidity etc to stop futile breeding attempts? What was the difference in temps and humidity during their nonbreeding state? If you want to go into detail you could just email me privately. Thanks very much!
