Grey rats

Does anyone have info on these snakes, and their suitability for beginners. I'm especially interested in their temperment, size, and ease of feeding. Thanks!

Mike

You can find care sheets for corns that will work just fine for a grey rat. Mine is probably my most active snake. He is always out cruising around. I have dow rods leaning all over the cage and he loves to climb. He is very calm and great to handle. He has never gotten flighty at all. He also has always eaten very well. He is the only one that will eatin my hand. I started to put him in his container with the pinky and he just scooped it up while I was still holding him so I just held him and watched. Pretty cool thing to see. I would highly recommend these guys.

Gray Rat Snakes are easy snakes to keep and there are plenty of care sheets out there for them. I have four of them at this time, so you are talking to someone who thinks they are really great snakes.

Grays, like Blacks, Texans, and Yellows can grow to be about six feet long. They each have their own personality. Some are calmer then others. I have one that is a little nippy at times, but the outer three are OK to handle just about any time. Start with a young one. I think a good rule is to pickup and handle the snake See how it behaves before you buy it. If it is calm then, it is likely to stay calm. Also, look for a young snake that has been started on Frozen/Thawed mice. It will make your life easier and that food source is safer for your snake.
