Heating a melamie cage

Chameleon996 Feb 04, 2005 07:29 PM

What is the best way to heat a melamie cage? From the bottom or heat lights from the top? I am not sure how a heatmat would affect the bottom?

heat pad inside on the bottom works good...the heat wont hurt melamine...just make sure you use a thermostat or dimmer if needed...

You mean like a heat pad that would normaly be stuck to the bottom of an aquarium.

What I am dealing with here is a cage for my new ball python. It is two sections that stack on top of each other. The top already houses my water dragon but the bottom part is being rebuilt with better construction and being made snake proof.

I am using aspen substrate for him, will I have a problem if the heat mat is inside the cage?

Go to beanfarm.com and look at there ultratherm heat pads.
They are very good, and priced well.
They will work fine inside your cage, i have used them with no problems. They say that you dont need to use a dimmer or thermostat but i have found that they get to hot without one. A dimmer works just fine and is easy
