misting system with WTF

bdomina Feb 04, 2005 08:12 PM

I was thinking about getting a few WTFs for my 35 gal hex tank. It is pretty elaborate. Heavily planted and wall work done, the works. I also have a misting system watering this tank twice daily. Would the misting system be bad for them. I have kept other frogs in it in the past. but I read somewhere that it's not good for WTF to be in a misting tank like that all the time. they would surely be able to dry out between mists, but would it mess up their cycles?
any suggestions?

I would say thats a good tank setup for a different kind of froggie with that misting system. Unless of course you are looking to breed them (it would be a nice breeder tank if you placed a pool in the bottom) I would say do without the misting system, remember these froggies are from Austrailia and don't have a high tolerance for wet (its gets really wet once or twice a year, this is when they breed), you don't want to inadvertatly stress them out and cause health problems. For a 35 i would probably only do 2 or 3 max froggies, cause these guys (and gals) get big.

You might want to tone down the plants, WTF being as heavy as they are tend to tear them up. I have noticed with heavy planting early on in my WTF tank it was a PAIN to clean as frequently as I had to. Now they have plastic plants and they are happy with them (plus i don't have to deal with it being TOO humid for the frogs and not humid enough for the plants), or certain little fat froggies breaking leaves and digging up plants.
Good Luck to you! Tell us how it turns out.
