This is my second year breeding and I have a question about my female’s ovulation. I have two females that were sharing the same cage for breeding purposes. I was trying to get my pastel male to breed both of them. Anyways he had been steadily courting both females since October 2004. One of my females ovulated and shed in late December. I never saw the other female ovulate. The male lost interest in both females toward the end of December, after the first female ovulated. I removed the one male around January 1st and I placed another male in with them January 3rd and left him there for 4 days and he showed no interest in either female. Today the other female had a massive ovulation.
My question is this, is it possible that the males would not continue to court and copulate with the second female due to the other one having already ovulated? Has anyone else ever experienced this? Also do you think that the second female could still produce a healthy litter although she hasn't had a male with her since early June? The second female did produce a healthy litter of 16 live, no slugs and no still born last year.

Any comments and experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
