Here's a mate to one I posted below. Less red and more of what you expect.

What a cool snake Mark! Its good to see there are those that are working with that locality. Very unique kings!

Thanks.
You know they were once fairly common and you couldn't GIVE 'em away. Spent a few hours today looking for one in a couple spots that historically have held them, but no luck. That's how it is these days. Most spots that are left have little time before they're bulldozed and built on too. It kills me to see a nice piece of land completely covered in asphalt---for a MINI-STORAGE MALL type thing or something else that could've been better placed in an already "improved" situation.
If and when I do find another, I will be torn as to what to do with it, but most likely will let it be after a few pics.
They still aren't a $$ snake but I have always liked them. I recall some very big snakes too.
Recently I stumbled upon some of the (very few) notes I kept as a kid and back then (70's) I had the pages for 'em labeled
"Eastern Kings--St.Pete" at the top. Shows how much info was available. Or more correctly I guess, how little I knew?

That is too sad Mark. They are truly an awesome snake and one certainly worth preserving. Hopefully enough of them have been put aside for breeding projects so that once the habitat no longer exist at least the snake will in some manner.

Yes myself & Jetzen are among the few that have some. Here's a pic of my female (I got a pair from Len Krysko when I visited him back in 03')

Great looking snake. A good example of a unique population of king snakes.
