Which Tree Frog

avengedphish Feb 05, 2005 04:34 PM

Hi
I am looking to get 5-6 tree frogs. I would like them to be fairly small. I want a frog that is colorful and that is very active and moves around a lot. They will be mostly for display and to watch. I am also on a budget so around 20$ for one frog would be a price that I want to pay.

well w/ that small of a budget i would say you should just go out and find some tree frogs b/c i dont know where they sell tree frogs cheap. also do you already have the vivarium set up b/c would that affect your budget or not? if it does i would still say go all out on the tank and just find some little frogs.

That's alot of requirements to meet. You will have to be concede a little if you want to find a frog that suits you. (say color for example). Also as far as activity most treefrogs are not that active until nightfall to hunt for food and mate.

I have a beautiful group of Red Eye tree frogs (DO NOT GET THESE UNTIL YOU ARE A BIT MORE EXPERIENCED WITH TREE FROGS) and they sit like little blobs all day and get active very late and night hunting for crickets. They don't move very fast either only when lunging for a cricket.

There are other species of frog that are more animated if that is what you are looking for but if you want a treefrog that is moderately priced pretty (though plain) you can get a White's Treefrog, a barking Treefrog or even a common Green Treefrog. Personally I kind of like the Barkers myself.
