Does the Humidity have to be consistent

Rottenweiler9 Feb 05, 2005 05:19 PM

I water the moss in the cage one time a day and it goes way up to 90 or so and then it goes down by the time I come back to around 40 percent. Is it ok to have this raise and lower throughout the day or should it be consistently high?

Thanks
Jeff

I'll try answering your question based on my personal experience raising several Retics from hatchlings to monster size!LOL!! I don't think constant high humidity is neccesary, and could cause health problems...all the breeders I know(myself included) keep there's on newspaper w/large water dishes. The humidity in my cages is usually not very high,I do however spray several times a day while retics are in shed. They all shed in one piece, and I haven't had any Resp problems keeping them drier the rest of the time. If you are using a tank,I would reccomend a plastic cage instead.Plastic cages w/belly heat will hold humidity well, and are the best for Retics. These are my own opinions, but I hope this helps anyway.
